With another enthralling IPL season over and to have finished in the way with the two bottom teams in the first IPL season contested the final in Johannesburg continued the unpredictability of this season that any team can win or loss on any given day.

Matthew Hayden – Destructive at the top of the order and gave Chennai blistering starts
Adam Gilchrist (c & wk) – The perfect tournament took Deccan from bottom to champions, his captaincy was attacking and tactically aware, his batting was destructive
Suresh Raina – Continued his good form in the IPL with his powerful batting
AB De Villers – Had an excellent tournament and showed his maturity and class, played variety of innings that Delhi required
Tilakaratne Dilshan – After a poor first season Dilshan was the mainstay of Delhi’s batting this season
Rohit Sharma – Batting, bowling and fielding was excellent and took Deccan to number of vital wins
Yusuf Pathan – His batting was excellent as he came in with Rajasthan in a precarious position a number of times, and he got important wickets
Anil Kumble – An excellent tournament, to have turnaround Bangalore season with his captaincy was inspirational and he ended up with 21 wickets the second highest
RP Singh – The best bowler this season and was vital in Deccan’s win this season, he continued to get vital wickets in all matches and was always the go to bowler by Gilchrist
Ashish Nehra – Was reborn in this tournament and the spearhead for Delhi
Pradeep Sangwan – The find of the tournament and he responded to the captains call when the team needed he provided wickets
